JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- After taking a tough loss against Catawba on the road, the Eagles come back to Mossy Creek and take down Anderson (S.C.) 5-2 Tuesday afternoon.

"The girls played very well and we're setting ourselves up for a good spot in the league standings," Coach Jim Frederick said. "The match against Lenoir Rhyne on Saturday will be a big one."

Doubles competition was taken over and won by the No. 2 and No. 3 positions for the Eagles as Hannah Price (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Abby Reis (Des Moines, IA) defeated Cameron Blanchard and Hannah Weaver 6-4 at No. 2. Newly formed duo of Alisa Liashova (Ukraine) and Claire Smith (Lexington, Ky.) were victorious against Hanna Tarlouskaya and Jacqueline Olivia 6-2 at No. 3. The only pair to fall was the duo at No. 1, Ana Carla Resende (Minas Gerais, Brazil) and Ali Harris (Crossville, Tenn.) to Laura Dean and Mirna Curcic 6-1.

Heading into singles play ahead 1-0, the Eagles kept the momentum going. Resende took her first set with ease and made the second a bit more exciting as she let Dean get close but ultimately won 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1. Price and Tarlouskaya battled it out at No. 3 and took both sets to almost the max amount of games as Price just defeated her opponent 7-5, 7-6. Harris struggled in her match at No. 2 against Curcic as she fell 6-1, 6-1 to make the score 3-2 overall. 

Reis was the last win the Eagles needed to clinch the match as she defeated Blanchard 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 5 position. Smith fell to Weaver 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6 and Liashova's match at No. 4 was retired early due to the match already being decided. 

The Eagles are now 8-7 on the season and 5-3 in conference play. They are fighting for the No. 4 spot in league standings so they will be in a good position when post season competition comes around.
