Eagles Sit in 15th After Day One at Argonaut Invitational

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Competing amongst a stacked field, No. 40 Carson-Newman sits in 15th place at 22-over as a team following the first two rounds of the Argonaut Invitational.

Luke Stock led the Eagles on day one, who finished at even par following back-to-back 72s to sit tied for 28th after the first two rounds.

"Luke Stock fought hard," head coach Randy Wylie said. "I appreciate his effort as a senior leader."

Stock's first-round performance features five birdies to nullify four holes over par and put him at even after the first 18 holes. The senior had a similar second round, also tallying five birdies, including three on the front nine, to finish the day at even par.

Nick Daugherty sits tied for 53rd at 4-over, jumping seven spots following an improved second round. The Roane State transfer notched a 75 in the first round and, despite shooting four birdies, could not quite overcome a triple bogey on hole nine. Daugherty bounced back, however, with a 73 in the second round, shooting only three holes over par and notching four birdies.

Steven Haremski and Elliot MacGregor finished close together, as Haremski sits tied for 74th and MacGregor at 76th.

Haremski was at par for most of his first round, but three bogeys pushed his total to 75 for a 3-over round one. Round two was similar, as Haremski shot 13 holes at par, but the other five were bogeys, giving him a 78 in round two to finish at 9-over.

MacGregor shot a 76 in the first round and, despite three double bogeys, limited the damage with five birdies to finish the first round at 4-over. In round two, he added two strokes to his first-round total with a 78, shooting eight holes over par and finishing the day at 10-over.

Rounding out the Eagles is Antonio Farinella, shooting a 75 in the first round and an 84 in the second. It was a solid first round for Farinella, shooting four birdies to limit the damage of seven bogeys. Farinella couldn't overcome a handful of double bogeys in the second round and finished the day at 15-over par.

The Eagles will look to finish the regular season strong, with the final round starting tomorrow at 9 AM.
