Eagles gear up for first home game

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman women's soccer team opens its season against University of Alabama – Huntsville.

The Eagles come out ranked ninth in the All-SAC preseason poll but won their lone exhibition contest of the preseason 8-1 against the University of the Cumberlands.

Senior Lizeth Munguia (Wilmington, NC) is welcomed back to the pitch after redshirting last year.  Last year's leading goal scorer Danna Stringle (Woodstock, Ontario, Canada) could also factor prominently into the Eagles' attack.

UAH was voted fourth in the Gulf South Conference preseason poll. Senior goalkeeper Iris Gunnarsdottir of Iceland made the first-team All-GSC team last year and was voted onto the preseason team as well. Forward Cady Reisman also was named to the preseason team.

The Eagles kick off at McCown Field tomorrow at 4:00 p.m.  The game will mark the first ever soccer game streamed in HD at cneagles.com/live.
