Eagles head to King for second consecutive road game

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (1-2-1) hits the road tomorrow to face King University (1-5) at 1 p.m.

 

The Eagles won their first conference match against Catawba 3-1 on Saturday. Catawba went up 1-0 in the 27th minute. Junior captain Sidnee Edwards (Knoxville, Tenn.) replied 17 minutes later to go into halftime tied up.

 

Edwards scored again 12 minutes into the second half to take the lead for her team. Ten minutes later, freshman Gabby Gianeselli (Knoxville, Tenn.) put one in the back of the net to advance the Eagles to a 3-1 lead and final score.

 

Edwards is currently leading Carson-Newman in points with five, closely followed by senior Danna Stringle (Woodstock, Ontario, Canada) at 4.

 

On Sept. 18, King clinched the win in a close match against Milligan. Rachel Thorpe led the Tornadoes in shots with five taken and four on net. Devon Shanklin had five shots, two on net and the lone goal to give the Tornadoes the 1-0 win. The goal was scored when Shanklin got on the end of a deflected free kick taken by Lindsay Curtis.
