BRISTOL, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (2-2-1) triumphed over King (1-6) 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

"I'm very happy with the girls' performance," Carson-Newman head coach Richard Moodie said. "We went on the road and picked up the second win of the season."

Freshman Susann Kneifel (Schkeuditz, Germany) accumulated three points today with a goal and an assist. She got the third goal for the Eagles, her first of the season, in the 35^th minute off an errant kick taken by King's keeper.

To put Carson-Newman on the scoreboard, senior Danna Stringle (Woodstock, Ontario, Canada) scored an unassisted goal in the 18^th minute. Stringle led the Eagles in shots with eight taken and three on net. This was her second goal of the season.

Stringle now leads Carson-Newman in overall shots taken and shots on goal with 15 and seven respectively. She has holds the most points with six.

Senior captain Sam Thomsit (Trowbridge, England) scored her second goal of 2013 from a header off a free kick taken by Kneifel to put the Eagles up by 3. Thomsit got on the end of the cross and flicked the ball into the left side of the net.

"We're excited about things going on," Moodie said. "This was Kneifel's second game back from injury and she got a goal and an assist on top of her assist from Saturday."

Carson-Newman outshot King 18 to 15.

Rachel Thorpe led the Tornado in shots with four taken and one on frame. Keely Easterling had a total of three shots, two on net and one goal assisted by Kaitlin Robinson.

"We set goals for the week and we can check this one off the list," Moodie said. "Now we have to go in and do the same on Saturday."
