"Queens is a team that got away from us last year," Carson-Newman head soccer coach Richard Moodie said. "This is definitely a team we're ready to play again, especially here at home."

The Eagles are coming off a 2-1 overtime win against conference foe Mars Hill on the road last Wednesday.

"With the results going the way they did in the conference on Wednesday, they didn't really favor us," Moodie said. "But nevertheless we had the win and did what we were meant to."

The Mountain Lions put in the first goal with four minutes left in first half.

In the 59th minute of action, Susann Kneifel (Schkeuditz, Germany) tied it up after collecting and finishing a loose ball.

With three minutes remaining in the first overtime, Mikayla Gregg (Newport, Tenn.) delivered a flawless corker kick for freshman center back Megan Peterson (Parrish, Fla.) to head in for the golden goal win.

Queens defeated Mars Hill 5-0 on Oct. 19. Kelli Gottry got both the first and fifth goals while Foil, Ashley Osiecki and Caitlyn Rodrigues each contributed an additional point. Osiecki also had an assist while Rodrigues put up two.

Last Wednesday, the Royals picked up a big 3-2 overtime win against Wingate on the road. Gottry and Foil scored first giving Queens a 2-0 lead by the 55th minute.

Wingate found two goals of its own to tie it up. In the 100th minute Mary Stringini capitalized on a loose ball in front of the net after the delivery of a corner kick for the golden goal win.

On Oct. 12, Queens fell 2-0 to Lincoln Memorial.

"I'm proud of the girls," Moodie said. "The girls are working hard and fighting hard. They get a little bit discouraged at times but that's good to see that they expect so much more."

Carson-Newman picked up a 3-2 win at LMU in overtime on Oct. 9. Senior Lizeth Munguia (Wilmington, NC) put in the first goal for the Eagles off a free kick in the fifth minute.

Eight minutes into overtime, Gianeselli collected a rebound and arced a shot into the upper-90 to claim the golden goal victory for C-N.

The Railsplitters outshot C-N 28 to 11. Senior captain Tiarna McKenna (Lisburn, Northern Ireland) had seven saves on the match. McKenna is currently ranked seventh in the SAC with 52 saves.

"This time last year we'd have been begging for goals," Moodie said. "Now we don't have a problem scoring goals; we're going to score goals somewhere. We just have to keep the other team at bay."

Gianeselli currently leads the Eagles in points with 11 tying her for 15th in the conference.

"We have a lot to play for," Moodie said. "It will be an exciting day in the conference."
