JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (3-4-2, 2-2-1 SAC) steps back onto McCown Field for a conference duel against Newberry (6-4, 4-2 SAC) at 5 p.m. Saturday.

"We found exactly what it took to win against LMU on the road," Carson-Newman head coach Richard Moodie said. "You've got to be proud of your team to go there and beat a very impressive LMU squad."

The Eagles are coming off a 3-2 overtime win against Lincoln Memorial Wednesday afternoon. Senior Lizeth Munguia stepped up and led her team with two goals. Her first goal came in the first five minutes of action from a perfectly placed free kick.

The match went into halftime tied 1-1. Thirty minutes into the second half, the Railsplitters got another goal to take the lead. Three minutes later, Munguia gets on the end of a corner taken by Mikayla Gregg (Newport, Tenn.) with a diving header to send the match into overtime.

Eight minutes into the first overtime, freshman Gabrielle Gianeselli (Knoxville, Tenn.) picked off a rebound and sent a left-footed shot into the upper-90 for the golden goal win over LMU.

"The strike from Gianeselli in overtime was a very, very special moment for us," Moodie said. "We enjoyed every minute of it."

Gianeselli moved into the top spot in overall points for the Eagles with 10. She has three goals, four assists, has taken 19 shots and landed nine of those on frame. She is tied for fourth in assists and tied for eighth in points in the SAC.

Gregg, Munguia, and junior captain Sidnee Edwards (Knoxville, Tenn.) are all tied for second in overall points for C-N with seven.

"Psychologically," Moodie said, "we're tuned in, we're engaged, and we're playing good soccer,"

On Sept. 22, Newberry lost 2-1 to the Railsplitters. Lincoln Memorial put two goals in on the Wolves in the first half. In the 72^nd minute, Newberry's Brayden Miller received the ball from Amber Sanchez up the middle of the field and placed it into the upper corner of the net for her first goal of the season.

Newberry is also coming off a solid 4-1 win against Anderson last Wednesday. The Wolves' first goal came 40 minutes into first half from Rachael Jonas. Jonas sailed a shot in over the keeper from 40 yard out.

Gabrielle Brodie and Jonas each put up another point for the Wolves in the 67^th and 68^th minutes respectively. Two minutes later, Anderson got its lone goal of the match.

With five minutes left in regular time, Lindsay Huber sent in a corner finished by Kelly Cardew for her first goal of 2013.

 "I think the women have to come out here on Saturday and get things right at home," Moodie said. " They have to protect McCown Field and pick up a win."
