C-N Athletics New Year’s Countdown: Number 7

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Merry Christmas Eve to you and yours as the Carson-Newman Athletics New Year's Countdown continues.  Gabby Gianeselli had a handful of goals in her freshman campaign at Mossy Creek, but none were bigger than her overtime goal at Lincoln Memorial that propelled the Lady Eagles to a 3-2 win over a Railsplitter club that at the time was 4-1 in the league and sitting atop the SAC standings.

That strike comes in at number seven on our countdown.

Gianeselli ripped a left-footed boot just inside the left post on a bender past the keeper from 25 yards away.  The goal was Gianeselli's third of the season at that juncture (she would finish with four).

The strike also amounted to Gianeselli's only game-winning goal of the season.

Liz Munguia scored both of C-N's goals in regular time, including the equalizer in the 78th minute of a Gianeselli corner kick to knot it at two.
