HARTSVILLE, SC – Carson-Newman (4-5-2, 2-3-1 SAC) heads to Hartsville for its first ever  match against new SAC member Coker College (3-10, 0-7 SAC) tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.

The Eagles are coming off a 3-1 win over Milligan last Wednesday. "The win against Milligan," Carson-Newman head soccer coach Richard Moodie said, "was a good foundation going into the end of our season."

Milligan took the lead 14 minutes into the game and held its lead throughout the remainder of first half.

Twelve minutes into second half, senior Raquel Pimentel (New Port Richey, Fla.) laid off a ball just outside the box for freshman Gabby Gianeselli (Knoxville, Tenn.) to hit first time and tie up the match.

Carson-Newman stole the lead in the 72^nd minute with a similar goal. Freshman Lauren Morelock (Abingdon, Va.) laid off a ball to junior captain Sidnee Edwards (Knoxville, Tenn.) for a one-time finish.

Senior Danna Stringle (Woodstock, Ontario, Canada) gave the Eagles a two goal lead with seven minutes left in the game. Mikayla Gregg (Newport, Tenn) claimed the assist.

"This team still has got a lot of potential," Moodie said, "to do a lot more than we're achieving right now."

Coker beat Mount Olive 2-0 at home Wednesday. Salina Maynard scored both goals while Jalynn Fortt provided both assists.

The first goal came in the 12^th minute of action when Fortt sent a long cross into the box for Maynard to touch into the back of the net.

With two minutes remaining in regular play, Fortt sent a free kick into the box on which Maynard was able to capitalize.

On Sept. 14, Coker fell to Lincoln Memorial 5-0.

"Coker is a good team with a bad record right now," Moodie said. "It's tough when you're in the season and there's no real room to fix problems or things that are going wrong because before you know it you're on your next game."

Carson-Newman defeated LMU 3-2 in overtime on Oct. 9. Senior Lizeth Munguia (Wilmington, NC) scored both goals in regular time.

Her first goal came in the fifth minute off an unassisted free kick. In the 79^th minute, Munguia scored a diving header off a corner to tie up the game and send it into overtime.

With two minutes remaining in the first overtime, Gianeselli sailed a shot into the upper-90 off a rebound for the golden goal win.

"For the girls, we'd like to make it the tournament this year. We haven't been for the past two years," Moodie said. "But we'd also like to gamble and try to make it in as one of the higher seeds."

Carson-Newman was outshot by the Railsplitters 28 to 11. Senior captain Tiarna McKenna (Lisburn, Northern Ireland) had seven saves on the match. McKenna is tied for eighth in the conference with 40 total saves.

Gianeselli currently leads the Eagles in points and is tied for 10^th in the SAC with 11. Both Gianeselli and Edwards are now tied for 13^th in the SAC with four goals.

Stringle leads the Eagles in shots taken with 33 making her 11^th in the conference. She is in fourth place with eight points for C-N while Edwards and Gregg are tied for second with nine.

"Coming off a win," Moodie said, "is the way that we want to be going into Saturday."
