YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Carson-Newman (2-2-2) sets out to battle regional opponent Young Harris (2-5) tomorrow at 2 p.m for the first time since 2009.

"We're excited to play Young Harris," Carson-Newman head soccer coach Richard Moodie said. "They're a new team on the schedule for us. They're a very good team and very well organized."

The Eagles are coming off a 2-2 tie with conference adversary Brevard. Sidnee Edwards (Knoxville, Tenn.) got the first goal of the match, her third of the season, in the 53^rd minute with a header off a cross from freshman Gabrielle Gianeselli (Knoxville, Tenn.).

Mikayla Gregg (Newport, Tenn.) put in the second goal for C-N and her second of the season 21 minutes into the second half off another perfect cross from Gianeselli. Gregg sent a first-time volley low into the back of the net.

"The match against Young Harris represents a regional game," Moodie said, "so it holds a great deal of importance."

Young Harris is coming off a narrow loss to Flagler on Saturday. Candace Edwards led the Mountain Lions in shots with five taken and one on goal. Rachel Hill took three shots and placed one on net.

In 2009, the Eagles outshout the Mountain Lions 30 to 4 and defeated them 4-0. Trenna Howell (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) and Morgan Gruenenfelder (Sweetwater, Tenn.) each put up a goal and an assist.

Nikki Brannen and Sandra Kaelin also contributed a point each for C-N while Andrea Saevik (Froystadvaag, Norway) supplied an assist. Brannen led her team in shots with nine taken and five on frame. All six of these Eagles have since graduated.

"We're definitely looking forward to the game," Moodie said. "We've got to look to build confidence this week and prepare for the conference match against Lenoir Rhyne coming up on Saturday."
