Taylor nabs SAC Player of the Week honor

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman softball outfielder Haley Taylor (Strawberry Plains, Tenn.) has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning. 

Taylor becomes the fourth Eagle to win player of the week honors.  Lindsay Dean (Coeburn, Va.) and Sarah Howard (Georgetown, Ky.) each earned pitcher of the week honors earlier this season for C-N. 

Taylor batted .533 average at the plate to help C-N to sweeps of  No. 21 Anderson and second-place Newberry.  That average went along with eight hits and a home run.

She highlighted her week with three hits, a homer and three RBI in a 7-2 win over Anderson in game two of the double-header on April 7.  She notched three multiple hit games on the week and added a slugging percentage of .733.

Carson-Newman and Taylor will be on display Wednesday against Tusculum. Coverage for the 2 p.m. doubleheader will be available on the Eagle Sports Network with a free high definition stream at cneagles.com/live.
