INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Carson-Newman softball has been ranked fourth in the first round of the Southeast Region rankings. The rankings, combined with automatic bids from conference tournament champions determine who plays in the NCAA tournament.
The Eagles carry a 32-10 record and a 14-4 mark in SAC play. Carson-Newman is 31-10 against in-region competition this season and has gone 5-5 against schools also ranked in the top 10.
North Georgia, Georgia College (whom swept C-N earlier this season) and GRU Augusta all sit in front of the Eagles in the region rankings.
The Eagles are the top-ranked team in region among SAC schools. Carson-Newman sits a spot directly in front of Anderson, whom Carson-Newman swept earlier this season.
Armstrong, Lenoir-Rhyne (a team C-N swept) and Young Harris round out the top eight.
Carson-Newman takes on Tusculum Thursday at the Vick at noon. Coverage will be available on the Eagle Sports Network with a free high definition stream at cneagles.com/live.
