ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman softball junior outfielder Bre Lockett (Fontana, Calif.) has brought home he second AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week accolade, the league office announced Tuesday morning.

Lockett went 7-for-8 at the plate as the Eagles collected four straight shutout wins over the weekend against Lees-McRae (twice), Indiana Wesleyan and Davis & Elkins.

"It's really just been about our consistency at practice," Lockett said. "We go through reps over and over and over, so it's all muscle memory.  I'm not thinking as much either.  I'm having fun and just swinging hard."

Of her seven hits, five were for extra bases.  She tallied a couple triples and a trio of doubles while driving in two runs.

Lockett is riding a five-game hitting streak.  She has multiple hits in all those games.

Lockett also won SAC player of the week honors after she broke three school records following the Eagles' wins over Bluefield State.  She joins Kelli Hensley, Sara Kelley and Brittany Hefner has multiple award winners for the Eagles over the last three seasons.

Lindsay Dean earned pitcher of the week honors earlier this season.

Carson-Newman's on the road for its next game Saturday at King.
