ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman outfielder Bre Lockett (Fontana, Calif.) brought home South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week honors after breaking three school records over the weekend, the league office announced Tuesday.

Lockett reset Carson-Newman school records for home runs (3), total bases (13) and runs batted in (9) in the Eagles' 26-0 pounding of Bluefield State.

"It was a great week for her," Carson-Newman head coach Vickee Kazee-Hollifield said. "For her to step right up and be able to accomplish those things as a junior college transfer, you can't help but not be encouraged by her play.  That's what we expect from her the rest of the season.

Of Lockett's three homers, one was an inside-the-parker – the first for C-N player since Haley Taylor (Strawberry Plains, Tenn.) touched them all against Limestone in 2014 – another was a two-run shot and then the final was a grand slam.  Lockett homered twice in one inning in game one against Bluefield State.

"It hasn't really hit me yet," Lockett said. "It's just our hardwork coming out on the field.  Kristen Toppel tied a record that day.  It's nice to see it come together.  It's nice to see the capabilities our team has when we put everything together."

Lockett broke the school record for total bases that was shared by Brittany Hefner and Sara Kelley at 10. The previous record for runs batted in was eight and was shared by Hefner, Kelley and Whitney Hickam.

Lockett was 7-for-12 at the dish this week for a .583 average.  Her slugging percentage in the Eagles four victories was 1.333.

She also boasted a perfect fielding percentage working the outfield.

Lockett and the rest of the Eagles are in action this weekend at Erskine Friday and Limestone Saturday.  Both doubleheaders are slated for 1 p.m. first pitches.
