Eagels stroll past Covenant, 7-2, to end regular season

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — The Carson-Newman men's tennis team closed out the season with a 7-2 victory over Covenant College on Monday.

With the win, the Eagles wrap up their season at 6-15 overall.

The Eagles dominated the doubles matches losing only seven games in the three matches. The teams of Trent Slagle (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Chris Acker (Knoxville, Tenn.) at No. 1 doubles, Paul Birdsong (Woodstock, Ga.) and Adriano Kira (Brazil) at No. 2 doubles and Derek Holdway (Woodstock, Ga.) and Dalton Moore (Gate City, Va.) all won doubles matches to get the Eagles off to a fast start.

Then the Eagles won four of the six singles matches to finish off Covenant. Singles winners for the Eagles included Holdway, Kira, Birdsong and Moore.
