Eagles pick up first SAC win; Top L-R, 6-3

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Eagles won at the bottom four singles spots to put away visiting Lenoir-Rhyne, 6-3, on Sunday afternoon at the C-N Tennis Complex.

The win marks the Eagles' first in the South Atlantic Conference this season.
 
The Eagles built some momentum by winning two of the three doubles matches compliments of the No. 2 team of Paul Birdsong (Woodstock, Ga.) and Adriano Kira (Brazil) and the No. 3 duo of Derek Holdway ( Woodstock, Ga.) and Dalton Moore (Gate City, Va.).  

The Eagles then won 4-of-6 singles matches.  

Derek Holdway quickly won over Matt Gaines by a score of 6-3, 6-1 to continue the momentum.  

Paul Birdsong clinched the team victory by defeating David Jackson 6-1,6-4 at No. 5 singles.  Other singles winners were Derek Holdway, Adriano Kira, and Dalton Moore.

The Eagles return to action on Monday April 11, 2011 against Newberry.  Match start time is 10:00 a.m.
