Catawba nets 7-2 victory over Eagles

SALISBURY, N.C. — The Carson-Newman men's tennis team fell, 7-2, at Catawba on Friday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference action.

The Eagles claimed one of three doubles matches to start the day, as the team of senior Adriano Kira (Brazil) and sophomore Paul Birdsong (Woodstock, Ga.) won at No. 2 doubles. However, C-N's lone point the rest of the day was a win by sophomore Derek Holdway (Woodstock, Ga.) at No. 3 singles.

With the loss, the Eagles drop to 3-7 on the season and 0-2 in SAC play.

C-N returns to action on Saturday at Wingate. Match time is set for noon.
