WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — The Carson-Newman College Men's Tennis team closed out their fall season at the Cumberlands Fall Tennis Tournament held at the University of the Cumberlands. The Eagles were one of six squads, along with the University of the Cumberlands, Campbellsville University, Lincoln Memorial University, Covenant College and Lindsey Wilson College, to compete in the tournament on Oct. 2.

Freshman Derek Holdway (Woodstock, Ga.) took home the Mens' Singles Fligt-5 title. Freshman Matthew White (Powder Springs, Ga.) won the Flight 8 singles match. Every C-N men's singles players reached the semifinals in each flight.

In doubles play, the Eagles put forth a dominating performance winning three out of the four flights. Junior Rodolpho Schwarz (Brazil) and senior Trent Slagle (Knoxville, Tenn.) won the Flight-1 title. Senior Adriano Kira (Brazil) and sophomore Paul Birdstone (Woodstone, Ga.) took the Flight-2 championship. Sophomore Dalton Moore (Gate City, Va.) and White won Flight-4. Senior Chirs Acker (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Holdway lost in the Flight-3 finals.
