JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman Men's Tennis begins the brunt of its season with its home opener on Saturday against Union (Ky.).
The Nate Gangelhoff era in Mossy Creek started with a decisive victory on neutral courts to start the month against Young Harris, and now Gangelhoff will get an opportunity to impress the home crowd at the Charles A. "Buddy" Catlett Tennis Complex.
Union, a NAIA member, is coming off a 7-0 sweep against fellow Appalachian Athletic Conference member, Johnson (Tenn.), who the Eagles will also see later this season.
The Bulldogs were aided by singles wins from Luke Geduldt and Victor Bourguignon, who swept their opponents only allowing two games to be won across both sets.
Union struggled a tad more in doubles but still won all three pairings, highlighted by the No. 2 pairing of Geduldt and Bourguignon who matched their singles performance winning the pairing only allowing two games to be won.
Carson-Newman looks towards Marnix Van Dalen (Netherlands) who has been stellar this season and was named to the preseason All-SAC Second Team.
First serve is set for 2 p.m. from the Charles A. "Buddy" Catlett Tennis Complex.
