VIDEO: Marnix Van Dalen Interview
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – With the spring tennis schedule just around the corner, the men's side's Marnix Van Dalen has been named to the Preseason Second Team All-SAC list.
Carson-Newman men's tennis begins its spring schedule on February 8 taking on Young Harris in a neutral site game at Lincoln Memorial in Harrogate, Tenn.
Head coach Nate Gangelhoff, in his first season at the helm of the Eagles, inherits a program that is projected to finish third in the conference according to the SAC preseason poll.
Of the talent helping C-N achieve the wealthy projection, sophomore Marnix Van Dalen was named to the SAC's Preseason Second Team All-SAC list.
"It's always nice to get some of those awards, but on the other hand, they don't mean much. You always have to show in the spring that you're there and that's the most important," Van Dalen said. "I don't think the girls' team had anybody in singles or doubles [to be named to the preseason All-SAC lists], but if you ask me they are more than deserving to be in there as well."
Carson-Newman begins its home schedule on February 22 at 2:00 p.m. against Union (Ky.) and its conference slate just over a week later, on March 5, at home against Catawba.
