Eagles Continue Fall Season at Belmont Abbey Invitational

VIDEO: Boris Jordanov Interview

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman women's tennis team continues its fall season on Thursday and Friday, traveling to Belmont, North Carolina, for the Belmont Abbey Invitational.

Coming off a successful showing at the LMU Invitational, C-N will give its freshmen an opportunity to shine in the second fall season event.

Freshman Boris Jordanov got early action in his first year with C-N, competing in the LMU Invitational and securing a singles win against Tusculum. While it was the first win in Jordanov's young career, he knows there is plenty of room to grow in the second event.

"It felt pretty good," Jordanov said. "Obviously, it could've been better, but it can always be like that. Overall, it was a pretty good weekend and built confidence for the team, especially during the first experience with the guys."

As a newcomer to the Eagles' team, Jordanov appreciates the healthy mix of youth and experience on the C-N roster, which helps him better prepare for the fall and bond with his team.

"It's been good that there is a good amount of older and younger," Jordanov said. "Most of us younger guys hang out together, so it's good to bond. We hang out with the older guys, too… They're all really fun to be around."

After a successful first event at LMU, Jordanov looks to build on it as he acclimates to college tennis.

"The first event was more of just getting into a groove of things," Jordanov said. "I learned a lot with it being my first college event. I think it will be good to build off of that and go into this next one pretty well."

Jordanov and the rest of the young Eagles will take the court in Belmont, North Carolina, on Thursday at 9 AM.
