Lee University Knocks Off Lady Eagles, 4-2

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — The Carson-Newman women's soccer team was unable to overcome a three-goal first-half deficit as it fell to Lee University, 4-2, on Wednesday night at Lee Soccer Field.

With the loss, the Lady Eagles are now 2-4 on the season. Lee, the third-ranked team in NAIA, improves to 6-2.

Lee's Ashley Aragona completed the hat trick to lead the Lady Flames as she tallied goals in the 15th, 39th and 44th minutes to help the flames build a 3-nil lead at the half.

Ode Fulutudilu added a goal for Lee in the 56th minute to put the game out of reach at 4-0.

C-N's Trenna Howell (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) and Bianca Hall (Newcastle, England) each tallied a goal in the second half to prevent the shutout.

The Lady Flames held a 30-16 advantage in shots, including a 13-7 edge in shots on goal.

Lady Eagle goalkeeper Kyline Humm (Crystal Lake, Ill.) allowed four goals and collected nine saves in the loss.

Lee's Kristi Koudelka finished with two goals allowed and five saves.

C-N returns to the pitch at home on Saturday against South Atlantic Conference newcomer Anderson. Match time is set for 4 p.m. at McCown Field.
