Lady Eagles Cruise Past Brevard, 6-1, for Fifth Straight Win

BREVARD, N.C. — The Carson-Newman women's soccer team cruised to a 6-1 win at Brevard on Wednesday in South Atlantic Conference action, extending its winning streak to five matches.

With the victory, the Lady Eagles improve to 8-6 on the season and 5-1 in the conference. Brevard falls to 3-11-1 overall and 1-6 in SAC play.

C-N dominated possession for most of the match and finished the contest with a 28-14 advantage in shots.

The Lady Eagles got off to a quick start, as Morgan Gruenenfelder (Sweetwater, Tenn.) took a pass from Haley Julian (Knoxville, Tenn.) and found the back of the net in the seventh minute to give C-N a 1-nil lead.

C-N padded its late in the first half. Julian and Maleya Garrison (Hendersonville, Tenn.) each scored their first career goal in the 35th and 45th minute, respectively, to give the Lady Eagles a 3-0 lead at the half.

Coming out of the locker room, Brevard's Bailey Varley finished off a cross from Elena Crowe in the 48th minute to trim C-N's lead to 3-1.

But the Lady Eagles responded with three goals in the next 10 minutes to put the game out of reach.
