Carson-Newman's Gruenenfelder, Howell receive NSCAA All-Southeast Region honors

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Carson-Newman senior midfielder Morgan Gruenenfelder (Sweetwater, Tenn.) and junior forward Trenna Howell (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) have been named to the 2010 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II All-Southeast Region teams, NSCAA officials announced Thursday.

Gruenenfelder earned first team honors for a second straight year, while Howell garnered second team accolades for the second consecutive season. Under their leadership this season, the Lady Eagles went 11-7 overall and 8-1 in the conference, winning a share of the South Atlantic Conference regular season title.

Gruenfelder ranked fourth in the conference in goals scored (10), fifth in points (25) and eighth in assists (five) this season. She was also named first team Daktronics All-Southeast Region and first team All-SAC.

Howell finished the year ranked third in the league in goals scored (12) and fourth in points (28). She was also a second-team Daktronics All-Southeast Region and first team All-SAC selection this season.

The NSCAA All-Region teams are voted on by the head coaches of each of the respective regions in Division II.
