Carson-Newman's Gruenenfelder named SAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. ­— Carson-Newman senior midfielder Morgan Gruenenfelder has been named this week's South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday afternoon.

Gruenenfelder tallied two goals and one assist to lead the Lady Eagles to a pair of South Atlantic Conference wins on the week. With the victories, Gruenenfelder and the Lady Eagles won a share of the SAC regular season crown.

She scored an insurance goal in the 82nd minute of a 3-2 win at SAC rival Tusculum on Wednesday. Gruenenfelder closed out the week by scoring a goal and distributing an assist in C-N's 4-2 victory over Newberry on Saturday that clinched a share of the SAC title.

Gruenenfelder, who has produced 10 goals and five assists on the season, has helped guide the Lady Eagles to eight straight wins and an 11-6 record, including an 8-1 mark in conference play.
