Gruenenfelder receives NSCAA All-American honors for second straight year

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Carson-Newman senior midfielder Morgan Gruenenfelder (Sweetwater, Tenn.) has received National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II All-American honors, NSCAA officials announced Wednesday.

Gruenenfelder garnered third team honors for a second straight year after helping lead the Lady Eagles to a share of their third straight South Atlantic Conference regular season title.

Gruenenfelder, who becomes just the third Lady Eagle to receive All-American honors in multiple years, ranked fourth in the conference in goals scored (10), fifth in points (25) and eighth in assists (five) this season. She was also named first team NSCAA and Daktronics All-Southeast Region and first team All-SAC.

The NSCAA All-America teams are voted on by head coaches across the nation. Gruenenfelder was one of 11 repeat selections on the team.

The players will be honored at the annual All-America Luncheon, to be held at the Hilton Baltimore Hotel on Saturday, Jan. 15, as part of the 2011 NSCAA Convention.
