JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman women's tennis team looks to close out the fall season on a high note, hosting Converse University for a pair of dual matches on Friday and Saturday.

Transfer Edisa Hot is coming off an impressive performance at the ITA Fall Championships, making a deep run in both singles and doubles. Hot looks to replicate that effort in the final event of the fall.

"I think we had great preparation going into that event," Hot said. "I honestly didn't have any expectations going in… There were amazing teams playing, amazing players, so I just went step-by-step… I'm still sad for not winning the last match, it was tough… But it was great overall."

Partnering up with Leah McBride on the doubles court, Hot had to learn quickly with a new pairing, but her and McBride adjusted quickly and competed at a high level.

"Leah and I did not have much preparation together," Hot said. "We just kind of clicked and said let's do it… The energy was high and I think what we missed as partners is that we just didn't have much experience together… Overall, it was great and we played well together."

Being a newcomer to C-N in her final year of eligibility, Hot has appreciated the players who have been here in helping her get acclimated with her new surroundings.

"We have a lot of newcomers, including myself," Hot said. "It's great for them to give us experience and kind of get used to working together here and building the energy together."

Throughout this fall season with C-N and heading into the last event, Hot has focused on her work ethic to continue to develop heading into the spring.

"For me, it was just to work hard and to see where I am mentally and physically," Hot said. "I think those carry each other, so I just tried to work the best I can… We have a lot of good workouts and tennis… I think for me now, it's just getting ready for the spring season."

C-N will face off with a Convers squad who won eight matches in the Conference Carolinas a season ago.

The Eagles will take the court at 3:30 on Friday before a noon match on Saturday in Jefferson City.
