SAC Announces Two Players to Watch for C-N Women's Tennis

VIDEO: Leah McBride Interview

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – With the women's tennis spring schedule just over a week away, the South Atlantic Conference has released two C-N players to watch.

After being projected to finish tied for fourth in the conference in the SAC's preseason poll, the conference also tabbed Leah McBride and Edisa Hot as two players to watch this spring schedule for C-N.

Hot went 5-1 in singles in the fall, including a quarter-final appearance at the ITA Fall Championships. She also went 5-1 in doubles going a perfect 3-0 with partner Maria Ulloa.

McBride is coming off a fall in which she went 3-2 but is returning after last spring's 10-5 record, including a win in the five-position match against No. 15 Wingate.

"We've only been training for a couple of weeks right now, but it has been a whole other level of intensity," McBride said. "It makes me really excited for our season because I think the conference is not going to know what hit them."

Of note, Carson-Newman's schedule has slightly changed to start the season. While it was originally announced that C-N would begin the spring schedule on February 8 against Tennessee State, it will now play a doubleheader on February 8 against Young Harris and Southeast Missouri State. Both matches will be played on the campus of Lincoln Memorial University.
