HARROGATE, Tenn. – No. 50 Carson-Newman Women's Tennis took control in a road match against Lincoln Memorial in a convincing sweep.
Carson-Newman (10-3, 7-1 South Atlantic Conference) broke out the brooms for the second time in three matches quickly dispatching in-state rival Lincoln Memorial (11-12, 3-6 SAC).
The Eagles quickly came out and took the doubles point away clinching on Court No. 2 and No. 3 before LMU's No. 1 pairing had a chance to clinch with a 5-4 lead on Court No. 1.
That was swiftly followed by dominant singles flights from the Lady Eagles, outscoring the Railsplitters 36-17 in completed matches.
Maria del Mar Sarda Marti (Barcelona, Spain) continued to produce as an Eagle, collecting her 14th straight singles win to start her C-N career with a victory on Court No. 5.

A new pairing of Kira Baacke and Maria Ulloa debuted on Court No. 1 in an unfinished contest, but the pair was trailing 5-4 at the clinching point of doubles action.

The win gives C-N its first of a busy week that will see it play four matches in six days. The next for the Lady Eagles is on Friday, April 4, for an 11 a.m. first serve on Senior Day against Johnson (Tenn.). Both Edisa Hot and Maria Ulloa will be honored.
