JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman women's tennis team finished the fall season on a high note, performing at a high level against Converse University on Friday and Saturday.

The Eagles started Friday in doubles play, winning three out of four matches. Maria del Mar Sarda Marti and Mar Fraile secured an impressive win, while Leah McBride and Maria Sanchez Jimenez won in the No. 3 spot. Edisa Hot and Andrea Aguiar dominated, not surrendering a game.

FRIDAY DOUBLES RESULTS

No. 1: K. Kharb/T. Panwar (CU) def. H. Awad/S. Manovska (C-N), 6-2

No. 2: M. del Mar Sarda Marti/M. Fraile (C-N) def. S. Jimenez/L. Martins (CU), 6-3

No. 3: L. McBride/E. Sanchez Jimenez (C-N) def. L. Maynor/R. Rueff (CU), 6-3

No. 4: E. Hot/A. Aguiar (C-N) def. B. Benefield/R. Braziel (CU), 6-0

The Eagles were equally impressive in singles play, dropping just one match out of eight. Additionally, six of the seven wins came in straight sets. Sindija Manovska won the only three-set match, winning the third set in a tightly contested fashion.

The Eagles and the Valkyries played doubles on Saturday in a rain-shortened contest. Those results will shortly follow.
