ROCK HILL, S.C. – For the second time this season, Carson-Newman junior forward Jack Browder (Kingsport, Tenn.) has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Browder averaged 23 points and seven rebounds per game as 21st-ranked C-N tallied road wins over Emory & Henry and Anderson, 91-75 and 95-92, respectively.
The junior was also recognized following the opening week of the season by the league office as the player of the week. Nick Brenegan was also selected as a player of the week by the league, giving C-N three honorees this season.
Browder started the week with 13 points and six boards in the win over Emory & Henry on 6-of-8 shooting before exploding against Anderson.
Browder reset his career high with 33 points against the Trojans. He has produced 64 points in his last two games against AU.
He was remarkable after halftime against AU – going 9-for-9 from the field and 4-for-4 from three. He had 26 points after points after halftime and scored 16 of Carson-Newman's final 27 points. Browder was solely responsible for an 8-0 run that put the Eagles up double-digits in the final two minutes before C-N had to hang on with free throws late.
For the week, Browder shot 66.7 percent from the field and from three while making all four of his free throw attempts. Browder drilled six threes on the week, including a 5-of-7 effort from range against the Trojans. He also snared eight boards and had two blocks against AU.
