ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman senior point guard Trey Hubbard (Charlotte, N.C.) has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday morning.

Hubbard is the fourth Eagle to earn player of the week honors from the league this season.  He follows Jack Browder (three times), Nick Brenegan (once) and John Zhao (once).  This is Hubbard's first career weekly accolade.  This gives C-N six player of the week accolades this year from the league, tying the 2017-18 team for the most in school history. That year Charles Clark was recognized five times and Shaun Jones once.

Carson-Newman is the first SAC school in at least a decade to have four different players earn a weekly honor from the league office.

Hubbard helped C-N to a 2-0 week last week with an 88-74 win over Mars Hill and a 111-104 win Saturday over Newberry.

He averaged 28 points (with back-to-back 28-point games) and 7.5 assists for the week.  Hubbard also added in three boards per game and  2.5 steals per game as well.

For the week, he made 67.7 percent of his shots and went 4-of-7 (57.1 percent) from beyond the arc.  Hubbard also connected on 10-of-14 free throws.

Hubbard has scored 20 points in three straight games for the first time in his career.

For the month of February, he has scored 86 points in three games while shooting 60 percent from the field, 50 percent from three and making 7.0 out of 8.7 free throw attempts per game.

Hubbard and the rest of the Eagles will be on display Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Tusculum. Coverage on the Eagle Sports Network begins at 7:15 with the AEC Countdown to Tipoff on Mix 105.5 (WSEV-FM, Sevierville) and online at cneagles.com/live.
