Browder earns SAC Player of the Week honors for fourth time

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman junior forward Jack Browder (Kingsport, Tenn.) has been named WePlayed Sports SAC Player of the Week for a fourth time this season, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Browder's four weekly honors are the second-most in a single-season in C-N men's basketball history. He also gives C-N a school record seven weekly honors this year. Trey Hubbard, Nick Brenegan and John Zhao have all won the award once.

The junior averaged a double-double for the week with 24 points and 12 boards.  He also averaged 2.5 assists while shooting 53.6 percent from the field and 62.5 percent from three.

He started his week with a career-best fourth straight double-double against Tusculum, scoring 27 points and snagging 15 rebounds.  The 15 boards mark the 16th 15-plus board game since C-N joined NCAA Division II.  Browder is responsible for two of those games.

Browder followed that performance up with 21 points, nine boards and four assists in Carson-Newman's 87-85 win at Wingate Saturday.

Browder and the rest of the Eagles will be in action Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against Emory & Henry. Coverage on the Eagle Sports Network begins at 7:15 with the AEC Countdown to Tipoff on Mix 105.5 (WSEV-FM, Sevierville) and online at cneagles.com/live.  A video stream is available with a subscription to FloSports at cneagles.com/FloMbb.
