C-N Swim places second in the SAC Men's Preseason Poll

ROCK HILL, S.C.-Carson-Newman Swim named second in the SAC Men's Swimming Preseason Poll.

The Carson-Newman men's swim team was voted second in the SAC preseason poll with 21 points and one first-place vote as they head into the first home meet against Milligan this Saturday in the Maddox Pool.

The men took second in the poll closely trailing Wingate. The Bulldogs had 25 points, leading the Eagles by four. Lenoir-Rhyne came in at third with 17 points followed by Catawba with 13. Fifth place ended in a tie between Mars Hill and Emory & Henry with seven points apiece.

Henrique Januario, Matthew George, Asger Hartvig, and Laurits Kenskov were named in the 2022-23 SAC Men's Swimmers to Watch. Januario and George both took home two first-place finishes in the first regular season meet for the Eagles.

The Eagles opened conference swim against Emory & Henry, winning with a final score of 167-37. The men placed first in every event they competed in throughout the meet. Carson-Newman also swept the podium in five out of the 11 events, including the 200 SC meter freestyle, 100 SC meter butterfly, 100 SC meter backstroke, 100 SC meter breaststroke, and 400 SC meter freestyle.

Milligan will visit the Maddox Pool for the Eagles' first home meet this Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
