C-N Swim adds to the record book in first day of Tennessee Invitational

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- Eagles collect a slew of personal bests in the first day of the Tennessee Invitational.

Carson-Newman swim finished the first of three days at the Tennessee Invitational with 11 personal bests, two new school records, and two national cuts.

In the women's 500-yard freestyle prelims, Kate Salsbury recorded a personal best with a time of 5:10.31 which landed her in the finals for the event with Rachel Peden, Linda Ungerboeck, and Makayla Young. During the finals, Rachel Peden recorded a personal record and school record in 4:54.54. The previous school record was 4:56.40.

In the 50-yard freestyle prelims, Lily Parr recorded a personal best in 23.83, and Antonia Sanint beat her previous personal record with a time of 23.82. Manon Compagner competed in the finals for the event and set a personal record and school record in 22.89. The previous school record was set at 22.95. Ridge McCay (20.37) and Arthur Gluzman (20.48) also recorded personal bests during the men's prelims for the event.

The women qualified for nationals in both the 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard medley relay. Kennadi King, Lily Parr, Chrisman Rand, and Manon Compagner finished the 200-yard freestyle with a finals time of 1:33.28. King and Compagner also competed in the 400-yard medley relay with Kyla Blakemore and Breanna Belcher finishing in 3:44.84 to qualify for nationals.

In the 200-yard IM 'D' finals, Kylie Cutcher (2:13.34), Mandi Chadwell (2:13.93), and Chrisman Rand (2:10.73) all finished with personal bests. On the men's side, Henrique Januario set a personal record in 1:49.08.

The Eagles race again tomorrow at the three-day Tennessee Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn. The prelims will begin at 10 a.m., and the meet will be streamed live on SEC Network+. Stay up to date on cneagles.com.
