JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – No. 15/6 Carson-Newman (10-2) concludes its non-conference slate when it welcomes Glenville State (8-3) to Holt Fieldhouse for a New Year's Day contest at noon.

Tomorrow afternoon's tilt will be the first time ever C-N competes on the first day of a new calendar year.

The Lady Eagles begin a new calendar year hoping to extend the third-longest active home winning streak in the country. C-N has won 19 straight games at home dating back to the beginning of the 2023-24 season. This season, Mincey's squad is 4-0 and averages 91 points per game, shooting 46 percent from the field and 38 percent from long range.

Carson-Newman ended the first semester with a 10-2 record, with each loss coming on the road at the end of each month.

The seventh-best scoring offense in the country at 82.5 points per game, leads DII in assists per game at 19.8, while also holding the sixth-best assist to turnover ratio at 1.30. Defensively, C-N forces 23 turnovers per game and leads the conference in steals per game with 12.2.

Lindsey Taylor (Maryville, Tenn.) is eighth on the all-time scoring list with 1,393 career points. She is 57 points away from passing Karen Miracle for seventh-most in program history.

Campbell Penland's (Sevierville, Tenn.) 1,180 career points is 22nd in school history. She is just seven points from passing Zoriah Williams on the scoring list and 19 points from the top 20. Penland ranks first in the South Atlantic Conference in three-pointers made (33), three-point percentage (45.8) and three-point pointers made per game (2.7).

Tomorrow's meeting will be just the third meeting all-time between C-N and Glenville State and the second consecutive season the two sides will clash. GSU spoiled Braelyn Wykle's 28-point performance, defeating the Lady Eagles 76-68. The high-possession game featured the two teams taking a combined 148 shots.

Glenville State was selected to finish sixth in the Mountain East Conference's preseason coaches' poll after finishing the 2023-24 season with an 18-11 overall record. This season, the Pioneers have started 8-3 with the only loss in non-conference action coming against #11 Gannon in the first game of the year. Like C-N, GSU closed the first semester winning four of their final five games, two of which included 100+ point performances.

Emily Stoller's team plays at one of the fastest paces in the entire country. The number two scoring offense in the country averages 88.2 points, while taking 84 shots per contest. 45.4 of those points comes from the bench, the most bench points on average in the country.

Harassing and tenacious defense leads to the up-tempo game in which the Pioneers want to play. GSU forces 33 turnovers per game, the best mark nationally. Only one of GSU's 11 opponents have managed to commit less than 20 turnovers. In a 69-point beatdown of Salem on Dec. 4, the Pioneers forced 51 turnovers and had 37 steals and also made more shots than Salem attempted.

Through 11 games, only one player has started every game. Three players average double-figures in scoring led by Tynasia Bunting's 14.8. No player averages more than 24 minutes, while 12 different players average at least 10 minutes per contest.

Tipoff between the Lady Eagles and the Pioneers is set for noon. Coverage on the Eagle Sports Network begins at 11:45 with the AEC Countdown to Tipoff on MIX 105.5 (WSEV-FM, Sevierville) and online at cneagles.com/live.
