JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (10-2) fell five spots to 15th in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll announced on Tuesday afternoon.
This is the eighth week in a row that the Lady Eagles have been ranked. Falling back to 15th, it's the first time this season that Carson-Newman has been not ranked in the top ten by the WBCA.
In coach Mike Mincey's tenure, the program has now been ranked for 52 weeks holding 65-23 record when playing as a top 25 club.
Carson-Newman is one of four teams in the Southeast region ranked by the WBCA. North Georgia is the highest ranked team in the region at No. 7. Coker and Belmont Abbey find themselves in the poll for the first time this season, checking in at no. 23 and 24, respectively. Carson-Newman plays at Coker on Saturday
Conference Carolinas schools Francis Marion and UNC Pembroke are the only two teams receiving votes in the coaches poll from the Southeast region.
Carson-Newman is back at home tomorrow afternoon against Glenville State. Tipoff between the Lady Eagles and the Pioneers is set for 12:00. Coverage on the Eagle Sports Network begins at 11:45 with the AEC Countdown to Tipoff on MIX 105.5 (WSEV-FM, Sevierville) and online at cneagles.com/live.
