Eagles ranked 20th in Golfstat.com poll

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Carson-Newman men's golf team is the 20th-best team, according to golfstat.com's rankings.

The Eagles are the second-highest team in the South Atlantic Conference as C-N came in one spot behind in-state rival Lincoln Memorial. Carson-Newman won LMU's fall tournament, the State Farm Intercollegiate, by a stroke over the Railsplitters last Tuesday.

The Eagles have rallied off three-consecutive top-10 finishes and have finished in the top-two in each of the last two events.

Saint Leo is the top team in the nation, while Chico State and West Florida round out of the top-three. Lee ranks fourth and joins the Eagles and LMU as the three Tennessee schools in the rankings.

The SAC's Queens (N.C.) and Tusculum each are in the top-40 as the Royals rank 33rd while the Pioneers claimed the 36th-spot on the poll.

Senior Andrew Hall (Knoxville, Tenn.) has the second-lowest scoring average in the nation with an average score of 68.73. Tusculum's Brad Hawkins has the best scoring average with 67.85 average strokes per round. Hall and junior Dalton Reese (Warrenton, Ga.) are tied for ninth in the nation with a low round of 65. St. Thomas Aquinas's Michael Miranda carded a 60 to lead the nation.

Carson-Newman concludes its fall schedule on Oct. 26th and 27th in Orlando, Fla. at the McDonough Cup that will be played at Rio Pinar Country Club.
