Hall captures All-Tournament honors at Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – The 18-ranked Carson-Newman men's golf team moved up three spots on the leader board during Tuesday's final round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate at Sevierville Golf Club's River Course, while senior Andrew Hall (Knoxville, Tenn.) finished tied for fourth in the individual competition.

Hall recorded his fourth top-five finish of the season with a final round one-over 71 and took home All-Tournament honors.

"We rallied today for a solid final round after struggling in the second round," coach Randy Wylie said. "I am proud of the bounce back and grit my guys showed. We will learn from the experience and keep working towards the postseason. Andrew Hall and Jake Headrick both had really solid rounds today."

Hall's score of one-under was guided by four birdies; the senior finished the tournament with eight birdies in the event to lead Carson-Newman. The senior also had 37 pars in his three rounds of play. The Knoxville, Tenn.-native finished at two-over 218.

Senior Jace Devault (Bluff City, Tenn.) tallied a five-over 77 in his final round of play to finish tied for 19th with a total score of eight-over 224. The senior led the Eagles in par-three scoring with a score of even-par and an average stroke total of 3.00. Devault's 19th-place finish is the senior's best since placing in a tie for 17th at the State Farm Intercollegiate.

Freshman Jake Headrick (Maryville, Tenn.) carded his best round of the tournament with an one-over 73 and finished tied for 34th with a three-round score of 12-over 228. Headrick led the Orange and Blue in par-five scoring with a score of four-under and averaged 4.67 strokes; the freshman's par-five scoring tied for the fourth-best in the tournament field.

Senior Nicklaus Kennedy (London, Ontario, Canada) recovered from an eight-over 80 during the second round with a four-over 76 during Tuesday's final round. The Canadian shot a total score of 15-over 231 to place in a tie for 45th. Kennedy finished the tournament at three-under on par-fives and averaged 4.75 strokes.

Junior Dalton Reese (Warrenton, Ga.) recorded his second-straight 80 during the final round to move to 48th in the standings at 16-over 232. Reese shot two-over on par-threes. Freshman Will Hurt (Powell, Tenn.) shot a 12-over 84 to finish in 74th-place at 28-over 245.

Murray State's Preston French won individual medalist honors by two strokes over his teammate Jared Gosser. Western Kentucky won the team competition by three strokes over Murray State.

The Eagles will take off for Easter next weekend before returning to the links on April 4 and 5 at the Tennessee River Ramble hosted by Lincoln Memorial at Tennessee National Golf Club in Lenoir City, Tenn.
