Wylie welcomes two to Mossy Creek during spring signing period

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman men's golf coach Randy Wylie announced the additions of Brady Childers and Tom Forster on Wednesday for the 2016-17 season.

"We are excited to add both Brady and Tom to our team for next season," coach Randy Wylie said.

Childers joins C-N South Caldwell High School in Granite Falls, N.C. As a Spartan, he was coached by Jeff Thompson and was named first-team all-conference all four years at South Cardwell. The Granite Falls, N.C. native held his team's low scoring average as a sophomore and junior. In 2015, the Spartans won the 3A/4A Northwestern Conference. Individually, Childers won the TarHeel Youth Golf Association One-Day Event at Brushy Mountain Golf Club with a three-under 69 and placed second at the Dan Dobson Jr. Championship with a one-under 71.

He is the son of Mark and Cindy Childers and will study Marketing at Carson-Newman. His brother, Blake, plays golf at Lenoir-Rhyne. He was born on March 16, 1998.

"Brady Childers is a good player with excellent swing mechanics.  We expect big things from Brady as he gains collegiate experience.  Brady and his family live near Hickory, N.C.," Wylie said.

Forster comes to Mossy Creek from Oundle, Northamptonshire, England and last attended Prince William School. At Prince William, Forster was coached by Tim Rouse. He finished eighth at the Carris Trophy, which is the English national amateur championships. He was also the runner-up in the u18s National County Finals and is a member of the England u18 Regional Men's Golf team. In both 2015 and 2016, Forster qualified in the top five for the Intercollegiate Tour. In the National Finals, he qualified third in 2015 and second in 2016. He has also played soccer, basketball, tennis and cricket in high school.

He is the son of Chris Forster and will study Business. Forster was born on May 21, 1998.

"Tom Forster is one of the best players in England.  He has a terrific record in national level events in the U.K.  We are very excited to add Tom to our Carson-Newman family.  As a very experienced and highly rated freshman, he is likely to come in and play at a very high level," Wylie said.

The entire 2015-16 signing class will join the Eagles at Mossy Creek in August.
