JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.- Carson-Newman (2-1) continues its road swing as it has heads down to Cleveland, Tenn. to take on the Lee Flames (2-0).

C-N is coming off its first loss of the season that came on the road against Young Harris. The Eagles played down a man after graduate student Gustavo Moses Bessa received a second yellow card in the 42nd minute. C-N held strong defensively but allowed a YHC goal in the 87th minute.

Senior goalkeeper Darin De Meza recorded all five of his saves this season in the match against Young Harris last time out.

Six different players have scored the seven goals for Carson-Newman this season. All the goals have been scored by seniors. Nic Carsh is the only Eagle with multiple goals, scoring both in the win against Spring Hill on August 28th. Through three games, C-N has outscored its opponents 7-5, despite being outshot 36-34.

Lee has opened the season with two shutout victories. The Flames opened the year with a road victory against North Georgia. Then, defeated Emmanuel College on Sunday. Both wins were 3-0.

The Flames have fired 38 shots, 19 of which have gone on goal. Six different players have scored for Lee to open the season.

The matchup will be the final non-conference matchup before starting Gulf South conference play.

Lee has been picked to finish 3rd in the GSC Preseason Poll.

Three first team All-GSC selections were selected to the 2022 preseason all-GSC team. Defender Jeremy Bischoff, and midfielders Eemeli Makela and Fabian Navarro.

The Flames had two players picked to the newcomers list in midfielder Eamon McLaughlin and Defender Nathan Campbell.

Lee and Carson-Newman have faced off twice, with the Flames taking both meetings. In the season opener last year, Lee invaded Mossy Creek and left with a 3-1 win.

On the road under Stephen Lyons, C-N is 21-12-6 and 5-3 against Gulf South conference opponents.

In 2021, the Eagles were 2-1-1 following a loss.

Saturday evening's match is set to kickoff at 7:00 p.m. from the Ray Conn Sports Complex.
