JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.- Carson-Newman takes its 2-0 start to the season, on the road when it travels to Young Harris (0-1-1) tomorrow evening for a 5:00 p.m. kick off.

The Eagles are coming off a five-goal effort in the win against Spring Hill on Sunday. C-N fell behind 2-0 early in the match but regrouped to take a 4-2 lead into the half and eventually hold off the Badgers. In both wins this season, C-N has conceded the first goal of the match.

All of the goals scored by C-N this season have been scored by a senior. Nic Carsh is the team's leader in goals scored with two, both coming on Sunday against Spring Hill. Five other Eagles have scored a goal, Willem Kruijk, Tim Vercelli, Gabe Stevens, Jannik Schulte and Eric Schmutzer

C-N has utilized two goalkeepers in the two matches to begin the season. Senior Darin De Meza has allowed one goal, with zero saves. Freshman Eric Thust has allowed 3 goals.

Following the first week of the season, C-N leads the SAC in goals (7), assists (4), points (18) and goals for average (3.50). The Eagles are one of just four remaining SAC teams that are unbeaten.

Young Harris enters tomorrow match 0-1-1. The Mountain Lions fell in its opener to Lenoir-Rhyne 3-1 and then played to a scoreless draw with Limestone on Sunday.

Young Harris was ranked 11th in the Preseason United Soccer Coaches Poll. The group has been picked to finish 2nd in the Peach Belt conference. Three players were recognized on the preseason all-conference teams. Midfielder Mikkel Goling, reigning PBC freshman of the year, midfielder Saad Maziane, and defender Quinn Thompson.

The lone goal scorer this season for the Mountain Lions is by sophomore forward Pato Padilla. The group is led by 1styear head coach Dean Grey who was hired on August 3rd to take over for Mark McKeever who collected over 200 wins while coaching the Mountain Lions.

They're a top team," Coach Stephen Lyons said. "I know they are going through a bit of a transition, but Dean is a top coach. He has been there 11 years, so I can imagine it's a bit of a seamless transition on the coaching side. He has a good group of players. We know it's going to be a physical, again a tough test. It's a good way for us to measure where we are at and we can expect a real good game."

Young Harris leads the all-time series 6-1. This will be the first meeting since October 11th, 2017, a match the Mountain Lions took 3-1. C-N looks for its first road victory in the series against Young Harris.

The match will start at 5:00 p.m.
