Former Eagle Golfer Jace Devault returns to Web.com Tour

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Former Carson-Newman golfer Jace Devault is looking to continue his run in the Web.com Tour's News Sentinel Open presented by Pilot on Friday at Fox Den Country Club in Knoxville. He shot a 72 on Thursday to open up his performance in the tournament that lasts until Sunday.

Devault qualified for the event on Monday tying for second place with a seven-under round of 65 at Three Ridges Golf Course in Knoxville.

The Web.com Tour serves as a feeder tour for the PGA Tour, allowing for those who perform well enough to move on to the PGA level.

Devault's first tournament at the professional level was at this same tournament last year. He finished with a total of 153 through the first two rounds of last year's Open, not being able to make the cut heading into the third day of play.

"I am extremely proud of his turn to professional golf in this past year," C-N men's golf coach Randy Wiley said. "He seems to be much more comfortable with his play and is more prepared to do well compared to last year's performance where he felt he was rather raw."

Devault came to Mossy Creek by way of East Tennessee State University in 2015 for his senior campaign. The Bluff City, Tenn. native competed in every round of golf the Eagles competed in that season, including two seventh-place finishes and a four-under round of 68 at the University of North Georgia Fall Invitational.

Be sure to check the News Sentinel Open Leaderboard to stay updated with Devault's performance.
