Marcinelli receives Elite 20 plaudit

ANDERSON, S.C.Anthony Marcinelli (Knoxville, Tenn.) has been named the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Spring Elite 20 honoree for men's golf as announced by the league on Sunday afternoon at the SAC Championship at the Cobb's Glen Country Club.

The accolade is given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average based on a minimum of 48 credit hours and is competing at the final competition site for their respective sports.

Marcinelli is currently pursuing degrees in accounting as well as finance and economics while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. He came into Carson-Newman with 33 college credits to his name, allowing him to graduate this spring.

On the links, the junior took part in all but one of Carson-Newman's regular season tournaments. He finished in the top-20 of three events with a 74.3 average through 21 rounds of play. His best outing came at the Panther Invitational where he concluded in a tie for 14th with a three-round total of 216.
