Eagles named 20th nationally by Golfstat

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The men's golf team has been ranked 20th in the nation in the latest Golfstat ranking released on Wednesday morning.

The Eagles landed at eighth in the southeast regional rankings.

The team has competed in two tournaments so far this season, finishing sixth at the Cougar Invitational presented by Aflac from Sept. 25-26 and fourth at the North Georgia Fall Invitational from Oct. 2-3.

Sophomore Thomas Forster is currently the highest-ranked Eagle at 83rd in the nation and 29th in the region. He finished in a tie for 37th at the Cougar Invitational while having an impressive fifth place showing at UNG.

Teammate Jake Headrick stands at 44th in the region after participating in both events with ties at 11th and 41st place at the Cougar Invitational and UNG Fall Invitational, respectively. He is 162nd in the nation.

Freshman Jackson Tyler was not far behind the junior in the rankings, landing at 47th in the southeast and 163rd overall. Tyler's best finish thus far was a tie for 18th at UNG.

The next tournament for the Eagles will be the McDonough Cup at the Rio Pinar Golf Club in Orlando, Fla. That event is set for Oct. 30-31.
