ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – Moving up 20 spots in the final day, Carson-Newman men's golfer Tom Forster (Oundle, England) concluded his time in the St. Andrews Links Trophy with a share of 14th-place finish on Sunday.

Forster was three-under on the day, playing all 36 holes on the Old Course, to finish the event holding the same showing through four rounds with a 284 total. He was six strokes out of first-place where John Murphy of Ireland sat. He defeated Germany's Jannik de Bruyn in a sudden death playoff after the two finished the four rounds tied at nine-under.

"This is a tremendous finish in one of the most prestigious events in the world," head coach Randy Wylie said, "and on the most famous golf course in the world! What a great experience."

The third round saw the Eagle produce his best outing of the weekend. Forster was two-under after the first nine holes before a couple more birdies and a bogey propelled him to a 69 in the first round of the day.

The fourth round played out similarly to Forster's second round from Saturday, shooting another round of 72.  His afternoon started with a one-under score heading into the turn for the final nine holes of the tournament. A bogey that was followed by a birdie and a bogey late in the round kept him at even in the round.

Next on the docket for Forster will be the 123rd Amateur Championship. Played in Aberdeen, Scotland, it is the second-ranked event in the world behind the US Amateur. That event will begin on June 18 from Royal Aberdeen and Murcar Links.
