C-N finishes 5th at City with Spirit Classic

Final Results

CLEVELAND, Tenn.- Carson-Newman women's golf finished its second tournament of the fall season with a fifth-place finish at the City with Spirit Classic.

The Eagles came up just one stroke shy of fourth place.

C-N was led by graduate student Maeve Cummins. The Waringstown, Northern Ireland native, fired a 5-over 77 on the final day of competition. She recorded one birdie, on hole six, a 139-yard par three. She finished the tournament tied for 4th place. It's the 12th time that Cummins has finished inside the top 5 in her career.

Senior Ellie Haughton followed in with a 7-over 79. She also made a birdie on a par three, hers coming on hole nine.

Graduate student Hannah Holland and junior Ana Herrera each scored an 8-over 80 in the final round. Holland made two birdies as part of a 3-over par back nine. Herrera made birdie on hole 17, a 125-yard par three. She finished tied for 12th. It marks the ninth time she has finished in the top 20 in her C-N career.

Sophomore Caroline Nemes rounded out the scoring for C-N with an 11-over 83. Nemes best stretch of holes came from 13-18. She was 1-under on those set of holes, with two birdies made.

Freshman Madison Cline and Senior Aynsleigh Martin finished their tournaments with a 79 and 81 respectively.

Fellow South Atlantic Conference members Limestone and Anderson finished 1st and 2nd, respectively.

Anderson's Jessica Rathbone won the individual crown, going 1-over for the tournament. It took a playoff hole to take down Lee's Supuschaya Srichantamit.

C-N returns to the course on October 10th and 11th for the LeeAnn Noble Memorial held at Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega, Georgia.
