Eagles head to North Carolina to wrap up regular season

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – For the first time since 2019, Carson-Newman will compete at an event in North Carolina, the Dr. Jerry Surratt Women's Invitational to wrap up the regular season.

The last time C-N competed in North Carolina was for South Atlantic Conference Championships in April of 2019.

The Eagles will tee it up at Stonebridge Golf Club in Monroe, North Carolina. Stonebridge is a par 72 that ranges just shy of 6,000 yards. The private club was built in 1997 by course designer Richard Osbourne.

Carson-Newman has finished in the top three in two of its three events this spring season. Its best finish came at the beginning of the season, finishing second at the Battle at Hilton Head.

Graduate student Maeve Cummins is C-N's only golfer to finish in the top 30 in all three events so far this spring. Her low round of the spring came in the opening round of the Low Tide Intercollegiate, an even par 72. Cummins holds the C-N record for most rounds played with 100. Currently, her career scoring average of 75.78 is the best in program history. She also holds the best win/loss percentage in a career at .833.

Senior Ellie Haughton was C-N's top finisher last time out. Haughton finished tied for 12th after posting rounds of 75 and 77 at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate. She has a 77.4 scoring average this season.

Freshman Ida Peterson has played well this early in her C-N career. Peterson has a pair of top ten finishes already this season and has the Eagles' only under par round of the spring season. A 1-under 71 in the final round of the Low Tide Intercollegiate. She leads Carson-Newman with a 75.3 scoring average.

Graduate student Hannah Holland returns to action this week. Her best finish this spring came at the Battle at Hilton Head, where she finished tied for 23rd.

Sophomore Caroline Nemes rounds out C-N's lineup this week. She recorded her first career top ten finish at the Battle at Hilton Head to begin the spring season. Nemes has a 78.5 scoring average this season.
