ROCK HILL, S.C. – Just before heading to the conference championships, Carson-Newman's Maeve Cummins earned second team All-Conference honors from the South Atlantic Conference, as announced earlier today.
Cummins joins Anderson's Kerrington Lamb, Wingate's Jess Brown, and Limestone's Sarah Mardani and Maria Morales on the All-SAC second team.
Cummins earns her third career All-SAC honor. The graduate student was a first team selection in 2019 and 2022. She has a 76.0 scoring average in 23 rounds played this season, leading C-N. Cummins has put together three different low rounds of 72 this season. She is coming off her best round finish of the season, going 12-over at the Surratt Memorial Invitational, which earned her a top five finish. She has two top five finishes this season and and four top 20 finishes in 2022-23.
The Waringstown, Northern Ireland native has made her mark on the Carson-Newman program. She currently holds three different career records. Her 75.79 career scoring average is 1st in program history. Her win/loss percentage is .837, seven percentage points ahead of second place and her 103 career rounds are the most played in C-N history.
She set two season records last season. Her 74.9 scoring average in 2022 just edged teammate Ellie Haughton for lowest mark in a single season. Cummins also put together a winning percentage of .882 last season, which also is the best mark in a single season.
Anderson swept the individual honors, as Golfer of the year honors went to Jessica Rathbone, Freshman of the year was given to Kennedy Gooding and Coach of the year went to Anderson's Denton Moore.
