JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman's lone senior Stefy Stand (Ecuador) was named to the preseason All-South Atlantic Conference first team, the league office announced Thursday.
"This is Stefy's senior season," Carson-Newman head tennis coach Jean Love said, "and she is certainly ready."
Stand received first team All-SAC honors. She played all seventeen matches at no. 1 singles, winning five.
"She is coming into this season the healthiest she has been since coming to Carson-Newman," Love said. "She missed her sophomore season with injury and it took her a while to get where she is now in terms of her physical fitness and with her tennis."
Last season, Stand also won five of her doubles contests playing as the no. 1 seed.
"I am really going to enjoy watching her play this season," Love said.
C-N women's tennis kicks off its season at 1 p.m. Feb. 8 on the road at Tennessee Wesleyan. The Eagles' first home match is at 2 p.m. Feb. 12 against Alabama Huntsville.
